Dorian

Changing Your Password

Dorian: Administrators Guide | Developers Guide | Users Guide | caGrid: Documentation Guides

Dorian allows users to change their password if it has not been locked by Dorian.   In order to change their password, the user must provide their user id, current password, and new password.   If a user has forgotten their password or their password has been locked because they have exceeded the number of total invalid logins allowed by Dorian, their password must be reset by an administrator.

To change your user account password using the GAARDS UI, please complete the following steps:

  1. Launch the GAARDS UI
  2. From the Account Management menu, select the Local Accounts sub menu, and select Change Password.  This will launch the Change Password window.
  3. From the Service drop down, select the Dorian in which you account resides.
  4. In the Username text box enter your account user id.
  5. In the Current Password text box enter your current password.
  6. In the New Password text box enter you new password.
  7. In the Verify Password text box re-enter your new password.
  8. Click the Change Password button, this will immediately change your password.

(Using the default configuration for Dorian, the password must contain at least 10 and at most 20 characters, as well as contain at least one capital letter, one number, one non-alphanumeric symbol, and not contain any dictionary words. The default password security configuration was chosen in order to meet the federal e-authentication guidelines for Level of Assurance 1 and Level of Assurance 2)
