Grid User Account Registration

Dorian Registration

Secure Grid Services often require users to authenticate with them using grid credentials. In caGrid, to obtain Grid credentials users must have an user account on Dorian. For the purposes of this tutorial, we have provided a Dorian instance which will allow any individual taking this tutorial to register for a grid user account. It is important to note that this account is for testing purposes only and will not work in the production grid.

Grid Authentication and Authorization with Reliably Distributed Services (GAARDS) is the framework for authorization and authentication management in the Grid.

You can register for an account using the GAARDS UI as follows:

  • Using a new command prompt, go to the CAGRID_LOCATION and type ant security as shown below:

%> cd %CAGRID_LOCATION%
%> ant security

  • Click the Local Account Management button on the GAARDS UI toolbar to open the Identity Provider menu. Select Register and click the Select button to open the IdP User Application window.
  • To register select https://training.cagrid.org:8443/wsrf/services/cagrid/Dorian from the Service drop down.
  • Next, specify a username and password; this will be the username and password that you use to authenticate with Dorian.
  • Finally, enter your personal information and click the Apply button.
